Spencer Hecht, Esq.


Spencer M. Hecht is a native of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and is the founder and principal of the Hecht & Associates law firm located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. Mr. Hecht has a diversified client base and specializes in criminal defense, family law, and business litigation. See practice areas for more details.

Mr. Hecht began practicing criminal defense and civil litigation in the Maryland and District of Columbia local, state, and federal courthouses) and has been involved in numerous high-profile cases and has achieved a high rate of success in his practice areas. Mr. Hecht has significant jury trial experience in both federal and state courts and is licensed to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals (includes Superior Court of the District of Columbia), and the Maryland Court of Appeals (includes district and circuits courts throughout the State of Maryland. Mr. Hecht also holds a top secret government clearance and is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar Association, the Montgomery County Bar Association, and the Prince George’s County Bar Association.

Prior to engaging in the practice of law, Mr. Hecht studied at the University of Wisconsin where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in 1999. Immediately following his undergraduate studies, Mr. Hecht attended the University of Maryland School of Law. While in law school, Mr. Hecht actively participated in the Moot Court Board (appellate practice) and various trial advocacy groups. Mr. Hecht obtained his jurist doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Law in 2002 as a member of the Phi Delta Phi Honors Fraternity.

In 2005, Mr. Hecht moved Hecht & Associates from the District of Columbia to downtown Silver Spring, Maryland. The office is easily accessible to clients located throughout the D.C.
